With this, 21-year-old Mayank Yadav has become the first bowler in the world to bowl 3 balls at a speed of more than 155kmph in IPL history. What the greats could not do even after bowling hundreds of balls, Mayank Yadav changed the history of that competition in just 48 balls.
Mayank has three balls with speed more than 155 in his name in IPL. He has left behind legends like Brett Lee, Shaun Tait, Shoaib Akhtar, Dale Steyn. Only 5 bowlers including Mayank have been able to bowl more than 155 fast balls in this league. Shaun Tate holds the record for the fastest ball in this league. He has bowled the ball with a speed of 157.71.
Umran Malik, Lockie Ferguson, Anrich Norkya and Umran Malik are also included in this list. But no bowler has been able to bowl 3 balls above 155. Mayank has so far bowled balls with speeds of 156.7, 155.8 and 155.3. Mayank’s record is also special because these bowlers have bowled hundreds of balls and Mayank has not been able to bowl even 50 balls yet. With this, Mayank has also broken his own record of the fastest ball of IPL 2024. He bowled a ball with a speed of 156.7 to Cameron Green. In the last record, he had bowled a ball with a speed of 155.8 against Punjab Kings.
In the post match presentation ceremony, Mayank Yadav said that he is very happy to win the Man of the Match award for the second consecutive time. However, what makes me happier is that our team won both the matches. For me, team victory has always been above personal achievement. I believe this is just the beginning because my aim is to play for India. The most fun I had was clean bowling Cameron Green against RCB. Diet, sleep and training have their own importance to bowl consistently fast. I take special care of my diet and recovery before every match. I take ice baths. Hopefully I will play for India soon.
